Therapy notes

Preliminary research and conceptualization
Nov 2019 - Mar 2020
Scope: Research, UX/UI design

I worked with the 3 co-founders of Maia - Jenna (a psychologist and therapist), Jerome (business and marketing), and Suranga (business and tech).

Challenge

We identified note-taking as a potential opportunity area when mapping the therapists' journey as part of exploratory research on Maia.

Keeping notes is an essential part of a therapist's practice. It also involves a lot of time consuming manual work such as data entry and transcribing from written notes or recordings. We felt like we could leverage the team's strength in artificial intelligence (AI) technology to solve this problem.

Process

Jobs to be done

I summarised the tasks and considerations involved in note-taking from our journey-mapping session in a 'jobs to be done' format.

Competitive and subject area research

I conducted secondary research to understand more about therapy note-taking and practice management platforms that provided note-taking features.

Storyboarding

I created storyboards to describe the current experience and what potential future experiences could look like.
We used these storyboards to identify gaps in our understanding and potential issues to consider in the proposed solutions.
